FICA curriculum 2011/12

Programs carried out under theYeperenye "Spirit of Football" banner take place all year round. As of2010 there were over 1350 players participating in all formats of thegame. The growth of the game in Central Australia and the programs FICAhas in place will see this figure approach 1,500 by 2012.


The Yeperenye Spirit of Football Winter:
Themain competition is held from May through September catering for U6,U9, U11, U13, U16, Football for Women, C, B and A, plus the new Over30's 7 v7 Corporate cup.


The Yeperenye Spirit of Football Summer:
7 v 7 competition is played in the cool of the evening during the months of October to April for U13, U16, Womens, C, B and A.


The Club Eastside Corporate Cup :
Anew category due to launch in winter 2011. Played under lights teamsfrom businesses and local government agencies will take the field in anover 30's 7 v 7 format.This will be more of a social recreationalcompetition played on smaller pitches.


The Optus Small Sided Games:
An indoor program for ages U6, U9, U11 is scheduled to run concurrently with the 7 v 7 summer competition.


The Charlie Perkins Football Academy:
A4 week development program structured to promote all round excellenceon and off the field. Generally held during the School holidays underthe expert guidance of our own accredited development officer for theage groups U9-U16. We see Ngurratjuta as a partner.


The Lil' Antz Future Champions:
Theprogram is held during school breaks under the supervision of FICAjunior coaches and the development officer. We welcome beginners fromages 5 through 9.


PowerWater Outback Street Soccer:
Thisinitiative aims to promote harmony and respect within the broadercommunity. Street soccer is played the world over to counter anti socialbehavior. Community groups are encouraged to volunteer their services.FICA has pioneered "street" with the generous support
of TangentyereCouncil with up to 40 kids attending each night it is held. TheNgurratjuta partnership will allow FICA to visit remote areas.


SOCA in Schools of Central Australia:
Isthe next big thing in the FICA curriculum. This is a natural expansionof our already successful grassroots programs .It gives young schoolchildren the opportunity to represent their school as a team in astructured non competitive environment learning the techniques offootball along the way. Ngurratjuta will be a principal partner in this.


Walk'n'Kick:
Isa football crèche for children under 5. It is supervised by several ofour female juniors and it allows parents some free time to watch thecompetition of the day knowing their children are in safe hands andhaving fun in the full size inflatable pitch.


Imparja Football for Women:
Isa dedicated competition for young ladies and women. This category israpidly expanding and the opportunity to play against an SAIS team in2009 was a highlight for our girls. This is an area of significantgrowth in the National agenda and FICA is well positioned to benefitfrom the impetus generated by the FFA.


Indigenous Football Festival:
tobe held in Alice Springs over the next three years. This is an FFAinitiative .FICA has been selected to oversee this event to encourageindigenous participation in football and provide a realistic pathway forindigenous youth through sport . Ngurratjuta will be encouraged toprovide signage at Ross Park for this national event.


Masters Games:
Takesplace every 2 years in Alice Springs and FICA has supported thiscommunity event for the past 10 years. Football is well represented andFICA volunteers are enthusiastic in making sure that interstate visitorsfully enjoy the experience.


Arafura Games:
A multi sportevent held in Darwin every two years with over 30 countries and up to3,000 competitors taking part. In 2011 Alice Springs has been admittedto the competition and will send a boys under 18 FICA youth team toDarwin. Known as FICA JUNIORS the team is expected to perform well anddevelop a pathway for the future.
